In 2000, a group of coastsiders opened a casual family restaurant on Pillar Point Harbor in Half Moon Bay, CA, and in 2002 opened the attached brewery which was the first operating brewery on the San Mateo Coast since 1873. Over the years, we’ve expanded and now have an event center and inn.

About Us
Selected as one of America’s Best Coastal Breweries by Coastal Living, one of America’s Best Beach Bars by Travel + Leisure, and recognized by the Food Network for serving one of the best clam chowders outside of New England, the Half Moon Bay Brewing Company sits on the picturesque Pillar Point Harbor, overlooking the marina in Half Moon Bay. The brewery combines a family-friendly, come-as-you-are atmosphere with fresh, sustainable seafood, award-winning craft beers, live music, and a spacious, dog-friendly patio complete with fire pits that keep guests warm by the water.
Since opening in 2000, the Brewing Company has become a beloved coastal institution for both locals and visitors. Inside, its warm wood tones, ocean-view windows, and surf memorabilia evoke the laid-back charm of a classic California surf shack. Behind the restaurant lies the 1,200-square-foot Mavericks Beer Garden and the on-site brewery, where handcrafted, award-winning beers and ales are piped directly to the bar.
A five-time gold medal winner at the U.S. Open Beer Championship, a two-time gold medalist at the California Brewers Cup, and a three-time gold medal and Best in Show winner at the California State Fair, the Half Moon Bay Brewing Company has set the standard for craft beer in the San Francisco Bay Area for twenty-five years.
